ISI Florence
International Studies Institute

Established in 2001, ISI Florence is a study abroad program rooted in the liberal arts tradition.

Internationally recognized for the high caliber of its faculty and a wide range of excellent student services, ISI provides an educationally stimulating program in a friendly, safe environment. True to its extraordinary setting in the cradle of the Renaissance, ISI aims to develop in all students the skills and the desire for learning that will make their semester abroad a life-changing experience.

ISI’s headquarters is the famous Palazzo Rucellai. Designed by Alberti, one of the most illustrious Florentine humanists, Palazzo Rucellai is universally acknowledged as a Renaissance landmark. Just around the corner, on the ground floor of another historic building (Palazzo Federighi), is ISI’s art studio.

Finally, a ten-minute walk away from it is Palazzo Bargagli, our other major facility, very close to Piazza Santa Croce. A four- storey building, Palazzo Bargagli was completley refurbished and modernized in 2009.

ISI provides a diversified curriculum incorporating Italy’s numerous cultural and educational resources. To this purpose, ISI offers a wide variety of extra- and co-curricular activities (including internships and volunteer opportunities) alongside its rich academic program.

True to its mission, ISI maintains a faculty of higly selected professors who are, at once, engaging teachers and excellent scholars.

In addition to its regular courses embracing all of the humanities ISI offers courses in anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art history, business, communication, food studies, history, photography, political science, sociology, studio art, sustainable agriculture.
